Ten Dead Rats Character Sheet

I have created a quick & dirty character sheet for Ten Dead Rats, it can be downloaded from my sidebar or here

Warhammer + D&D = Ten Dead Rats

I stumbled upon this game a few days ago, Ten Dead Rats (by Paul Siegel). Inspired by the old mashup of Small But Vicious Dog, which is D&D + Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. Ten Dead Rats is more streamlined and in my opinion a very good game. It hits all the right marks for me with the Warhammer classes/careers. I have been fiddling with it (as is my habit) and only found a couple of things I would change.

My Ten Dead Rats house rules:

. Character generation, roll 3d6 - however you may re-roll one of the dice (but must take new result even if lower). This gives better stats - which are more important in this game than in OD&D.

. When taking your first career at 1st level, you may take 3 Talents. You get one talent every level afterwards. This beefs up 1st level characters - but I don't think it will unbalance the game.

. Trappings. I include all trappings of the original (1st edition) Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay for the classes (not careers). Then 3d6 gold crowns.

That is it. Everything else stands as written. I think this game is perfect for Evan's Nightwick Abbey campaign. (In fact, I am sorely tempted to run this). Also, you should totally support Evan on patreon, his monthly release of material for Nightwick is amazing and well worth the price!

That is it for my rambling blather today.

Geomorph Maps

I have been busy drawing maps lately, and now have over 100 of these note card geomorphs. Based heavily on the format that Evan uses for Nightwick Abbey (you should totally support him on patreon, this dungeon is amazing), each map is 10x10 squares with exits matched to the 3rd square on each side.

Basic D&D Haunted Keep Map

I have been studying my Basic & Expert D&D sets (the Moldvay/Cook sets), and I still argue that they are the epitome of D&D. The best in my humble opinion. While reading the example of play for the who knows how many times, I decided to map it out. I am sure I am not the first to do so, but I wanted to see what the Moldvay Haunted Keep dungeon looked like (even if only a small sample).

So, here is what I found. I love the 20' wide corridor, never see enough of that. I had to guess at the final secret door in the south (where the hobgoblins attack on pg. B28).

The Hoarfrost Saga (again)

I have started work on my Hoarfrost Saga campaign again and will be posting regularly (for once) on the new campaign website, located HERE. I have already posted twice to the site to get my bearings and try to get my head wrapped around what I want to do with this campaign. It is no mystery to my internet friends that I am flaky and scatter-brained with my gaming (this blog is clear proof of that). I am really struggling to get to grips with my brain and wrestle the thing into control - I hope my new site helps in that regards.

Updated OSE Japan rules

I have renamed my OSE project to Oyashima and I have uploaded the latest pdf with equipment and weapons. I have also renamed the Wu Jen class to a more suitable name: Mahotsukai. You can find the download here (or in the sidebar to the right).

New geomorph mapping project

I know I said I was going to let sword+1 lie in peace, but I just can't do it. Yesterday I started a new geomorph mapping project. I have done some of these before, and I know Evan is using a great system for his Nightwick Abbey project (which he has on patreon - if you have not see it you should certainly check it out!).

So here are the first few maps, I decided to use these graph 3x5 index cards so I could store them easily.

OSE version of Ruins & Ronin Classes

For a while a couple of years ago I was working on porting Ruins & Ronin over to Gavin Norman's excellent Old School Essentials rules. So below is a snapshot of what I have completed, along with a download to the current completed classes HERE

You can also find the pdf in my download section on the right.

The Axe Lands Campaign

Shocking, I know, but I have started blogging again! My new blog is active and all future posts will be there as I would like to let sword+1 lie in peace with downloads to all of my past content. You can find me new blog here
