Boarding Action: Weapons & Armor

I have added melee weapons and armor to my current Boarding Action rules. You can find the download here, or on the sidebar.

Now I would like to start planning out some parts of the Behemoth ship, I hope to start mapping out the first "level" this week.

  1. I like the selection of equipment here. It very much evokes the feel of the Expidition To The Barrier Peaks, Gamma World, Star Frontiers and Traveller.

  2. Obviously I have to go back and read this whole thread...are you basing Boarding Action on a combo of Star Frontiers and Space Hulk? 'Cause that's an action game I wouldn't mind playing!

  3. Hi JB,

Yes, it is something like a cross between Space Hulk and Star Frontiers. Mega-dungeon in space for OD&D style action.

I think I need to add chainswords to my weapons table...

  4. You are intending this to be played as a traditional RPG in a sort of OSR version of a SPace Hulk setting, correct?

I would keep away from including too many of the traditional 40K weapons. Though they are cool in the 40K setting but to me they do not seem all that OSR.

Also, perhaps add a few more types of personal force fields as well.

  5. Eli,

Yes, definitely a traditional rpg. There won't be too many Space Hulk like references.

I probably won't include chainswords anyway - as I don't want to even get close to any of their copyright materials. :)

  6. Good deal!

I love the idea of the sci fi Mega Dungeon. There is so much potential there. I keep envisioning Barrier Peaks where the ships systems had broken down, gone out of control, renegade robots, mutations, aliens, the whole lovely lot.

On the chainsword note, you might want to allow a compromise and list utility tools as weapons - cutters, drills, etc?
