No, flew over advanced party to unload Merchant Marine ships in late Aug '90.
Only time I was on ships were from Okinawa to P.I. and then P.I. to S. Korea, and S. Korea back to Oki (with a stop at Sasebo) back in '89 and early '90.
Oh goody...Don't suppose you fellows would like to help Save the Afghan People? We need to drop Mimosa Pigra seed across Afghanistan so it will reforest within a century.
That will end the dust storms and save lives in the long run. It will also decimate the poppy fields - shit's an aggressive jungle weed.
Cool pics. I was in the Navy, stationed on the USS Schenectady, during the war. We hauled a bunch of Marines over from Okinawa right before the shooting started. We were with the USS Tarawa and USS Ogden.
My dad was also a Marine in the late 50's to early 60's, and got to see a lot of Laos and Vietnam.
Where's your copy of Rolemaster?
ReplyDelete:) That would be in my sea-bag under my cot. Best thing about artillery - we had trucks so we always had cots to sleep in on field exercises.
ReplyDeleteDid you ride over on the Tarawa, Ogden or Schenectady? I was on the Schenectady during that whole mess. Go Navy!

A kindred spirit! I was also in the Corps 1988-92. In the 5th MEB during Desert Storm, and into RPGs since 1979. Very cool.
